Excelsior Hotel Ernst am Dom
You can’t get much of a better location than the five star Excelsior Hotel Ernst am Dom, right across from Cologne Cathedral. They have family rooms and children receive a lovely welcome gift on arrival. They really care about families visiting and there’s a range of facilities on offer including babysitting and their fantastic breakfast is half price for kids (or free for those six and under). The train station is just a two minutes walk away and the whole city is easily accessible from this central location.
Statthaus self-catering apartments
If you’re looking for more of a self catering stay in Cologne then Statthaus is perfect. This quirky building dates back to 1840 and you can see some of the marks from shots fired during the Second World War on the outside. They have a number of different apartments and they come with great kitchens and multiple bedrooms for those staying with kids. As it’s an older building there aren’t any lifts so it probably suits those with children aged five and older. It’s in a really good, central location and the wonderful Bastians Bakery is open for breakfast a street away.
Cologne Marriott Hotel
This is a fantastic, centrally located four star hotel with family rooms. Just four minutes walk from Cologne Cathedral it is in the heart of the action and a great hotel to explore the sights from. This is a really well priced hotel for all it offers and is bright and spacious.
Maritim Hotel KÃļln
Maritim are a fantastic German hotel brand who have hotels that really work for families. The Maritim Hotel KÃļln is a bright, airy space with gorgeous views of the River Rhine. The hotel has family rooms and also interconnecting rooms. It’s slightly out of the centre, a 10 minute walk to the cathedral, but the location is great with lots of restaurants and cafes. Being slightly out of the centre means more space too and kids will love the indoor heated pool which is a real treat on rainy days.
Radisson Blu Hotel KÃļln
Radisson Blu are always a great stay with children, not least because of their amazing breakfast spread. The Radisson Blu Hotel KÃļln offers interconnecting rooms for families in a good location – the cathedral is just three tram stops away and the KÃļlnmesse tram stop is just 100 metres from the hotel. The rooms are very cool and spacious giving families plenty of space to relax after days out sightseeing.
Novotel KÃļln City
The Novotel KÃļln City is situated on the Rhine River Promenade in the city and is in a great location – the Chocolate Museum is a short walk away.
