Hotel Saturnia & International is a beautiful 14th century former palace in the centre of Venice. It feels historic but is also wonderfully comfortable and the breakfast, with an abundance of fruit cakes, is lovely. Some rooms open out on to the canals where you can hear the sounds of singing gondeliers drifting up. They have big family rooms where three extra beds can easily be accommodated making them perfect for larger families. This is one of the best Venice hotels for families.

This is a lovely hotel, just a few minutes walk from Santa Lucia train station and about a 20 minute walk from St Mark’s square. The breakfast here sets it apart and will allow all the family to be properly set up for a day of wandering. This is a really interesting hotel, set in a restored monastery in a lovely quiet part of Venice. They have great family rooms to help keep the price down and the hotel is just 100 yards from Santa Lucia Train Station in the Cannaregio district. It’s possible to walk to St. Mark’s Square (which is 1.2 miles away) or take the vaporetto (there’s a stop a five minute walk away). They have a great breakfast which is served in the garden in the summer. There are lots of lovely features in this hotel which makes it a really interesting stay in Venice.
