Atocha Hotel Madrid – the facilities

This cosy boutique hotel oozes cool charm. It’s small enough to feel intimate and comfortable but there’s no scrimping on size when it comes to the rooms. There’s enough of the facilities you need for a great stay in the city.

  • 🛏️ – interconnecting rooms and suites
  • 🏃 – gym
  • 🍝 – room service and restaurant

The Family Hotel Expert view –

While the facilities aren’t extensive at the Atocha Hotel Madrid this small hotel still manages to feel well equipped. There’s a gym if you fancy working out and the rooms are really well appointed with microwaves and sinks in some of the rooms to create little kitchenette areas. Having their own parking (at an additional charge), right in the city centre is a real bonus.

Atocha Hotel Madrid, Tapestry Collection by Hilton – the rooms

There are lots of different configurations of rooms at the Atocha which make it ideal for business use, romantic weekends away or family trips. If you’re travelling with kids they have great suites with lounge areas that have sofa beds and interconnecting room for a chance to really spread out. The bathrooms, like the bedrooms are beautifully appointed with fantastic showers and the hotel uses non disposable bottles in the bathroom which is always good to see. The addition of the mini kitchenette with fridge, microwave and sink in some of the rooms is very useful along with complimentary water and a Nespresso machine and kettle.

The Family Hotel Expert view –

We loved all the little details around the hotel, with wicker designs on the walls and lovely photos of Madrid from years past in the hallways. The hotel felt full of cool style with comfortable chairs and really comfy beds. We loved the mini kitchenette which meant we could prepare quick lunches for the kids. We really liked the products in the bathrooms too.

Atocha Hotel Madrid – the location

This is a great location in Madrid, a real transport hub and within easy walking distance of some of the great museums. El Retiro park is around a 10 minute walk away and there are restaurants, shops and supermarkets all very close by. The city’s main train station is a short walk away making it an easy location to get to and from. It’s worth noting that if you’re driving there is an onsite car park (at an additional cost) and the hotel will take your registration to ensure you won’t get charged to drive there as it’s in a restricted zone of the city.

The Family Hotel Expert view –

We really enjoyed this area. We walked out to El Retiro Park which was perfect with kids with its boating lake and ice creams stands. We also took a Sunday morning stroll to El Rastro, the brilliant market that is the best in Madrid. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and supermarkets for snacks and ice creams. It felt very safe and a great area of the city to stay in.

Food and drink at Atocha Hotel Madrid, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

There is one restaurant at the hotel, the Atocha 107 which is open for meals all day. We only ate breakfast at the hotel.

🍳 – Breakfast

Breakfast was a really lovely spread of food and set us up perfectly for the day. There are cereals and fruits, juices (including delicious fresh orange juice), cheeses and pastries. We loved the inclusion of so many local dishes such as pears in cinnamon and bread with tomatoes and capers. The Spanish omelette was a big hit with the family too. The children enjoyed hot chocolate and we liked the hot, strong coffee. Eggs were cooked to order and there was a small hot buffet too. We left feeling very happy from a great breakfast.

Atocha Hotel Madrid – family friendly

Atocha Hotel Madrid, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

This is a hotel that is welcoming and friendly towards families who visit. For a city centre hotel the rooms are really spacious and ideal for those travelling with kids. Breakfast gave the children everything they needed to fill up and hit the town sightseeing.
