Dona Filipa Hotel Algarve – the facilities
With beautiful Portuguese blue tiles through the building this is a little slice of perfection in the Algarve. The facilities here are top notch and everything you could need to give you a holiday to remember. This is a feel-good resort with staff that care and amenities to really enjoy and indulge in. Your first visit won’t be your last.
The Dona Filipa has some great facilities from sports like golf and tennis to a kids club, pool and a great beach club. Dotted through the property are lounges to relax in and there are inspiring pieces of art everywhere. The food here is fantastic meaning you don’t have to leave the resort unless you want to.

The Family Hotel Expert view –
We thought the facilities at the Dona Filipa were wonderful. The pool was gorgeous with lots of seating and loungers around it. The beach had some fantastic double day beds for relaxing on along with loungers and plenty of fresh towels. There was tennis and golf along with the kids club if you were feeling active. We had the perfect family holiday splitting our time between the beach and the pool. Our children didn’t want to leave the hotel at all as it had everything they needed to give them a great summer trip.
Dona Filipa Algarve – the rooms
There are lots of different types of rooms available at the Done Filipa from traditional Portuguese style through to the spacious, sea facing Ocean Suites. There are great products in the bathroom, Nespresso machines in the bedroom and gowns and slippers for all the family. Some rooms have balconies and a few of the suites have terraces with loungers to sit out on.

We stayed in an Ocean Suite next to an Atlantic Suite which was a huge space and amazing for our family of five. Each of the suites had large terraces which looked down on to the pool and the sparkling sea beyond. The suites had a really luxurious feel and were so comfortable. The bathrooms had baths and separate showers and were also a really large space.
Dona Filipa Hotel Portugal – the location
The hotel is based in the upmarket and exclusive Vale do Lobo area of the Algarve. It’s a short walk down to the beach and the nearest town is the working town of Almancil. It’s around a 20 minute drive to Faro airport making it a great place to fly in to and just start relaxing.

We absolutely love this area of the Algarve. It feels upmarket and has all the amenities you can need nearby. The beach here is beautiful and well looked after. The area is very secure and feels incredibly safe. We love how easy it is to fly into Portugal and be on the beach in super fast time. Quite possibly our favourite area of the Algarve to be in.
Food and drink at the Dona Filipa Hotel
The hotel has two restaurants although currently only one is open. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner the food is consistently high quality with plenty of choice. The setting, with some of the tables outside on the terrace by the pool is lovely.

🍳 – breakfast at the Dona Filipa
Breakfast is a really good spread of food with some delicious pastries including some freshly baked and warm pastel de nata that were some of the best we’ve tasted. Cheeses, fish and meat, cereals, yoghurts and fruits were all part of the breakfast spread. There was an egg chef, some fantastic fresh juices and a hot buffet available too.
🍽️ – lunch at the Dona Filipa
We ate lunch in the restaurant each day which was a really great selection of lighter dishes like wraps and soups through to risotto and veggie burgers. We thought the selection was fantastic and there was always a lovely range of puddings on offer too. There was a separate children’s menu with fish fingers, fish fillets and spaghetti amongst other choices so the kids always felt well catered for too.
🍽️ – dinner at the Dona Filipa
Dinner at the Dona Filipa always felt really special with the lights dimmed, the pool closed and just a really lovely ambiance. The staff, as always, were incredibly attentive and we really loved the dinners here. There were some amazing fish dishes on the menu along with meats and the chef would cook up a different vegetarian dish each day, on request which was just fabulous (they should put these on the main menu as they really were fantastic). the kids menu was also available here.
The Dona Filipa – family friendly
The Dona Filipa is one of those hotels that manages to combine a luxe experience with being family friendly. There’s a great kids club for under 12s and with tennis, golf and the pool on offer kids of all ages will never get bored. The beach takes around five minutes to walk to and there’s a really good kids menu on offer in the restaurant. The Dona Filipa is a hotel that people return to year on year and once you visit you will want to join the returners too.
