The Scandic Rovaniemi City Hotel is based right in the heart of the city centre. This small hotel is easy to wander around the shops from and the Revontuli Shopping Centre is directly opposite (which is nice to dive into to keep warm if you’re visiting in winter. This isn’t a large hotel but it’s got everything you need for a few days stay.

Scandic Rovaniemi City Hotel – the facilities
This is a modern, city hotel that has a business feel but is perfectly comfortable for families visiting the city too. There’s a large open lobby with small shop and two restaurants, one for breakfast and the other for dinner.

The Family Hotel Expert view –
We thought the hotel was well kitted out and although there wasn’t anything specific for families in the facilities (aside from the small play area) there was everything we needed for a long weekend stay. The small shop downstairs was well enough stocked with snacks and essentials and there was a supermarket across the street for anything more.
Scandic Hotel Rovaniemi – the rooms
There were a number of different rooms available from singles and doubles to romantic suites and family rooms with bunkbeds. The hotel has both standard and deluxe rooms – the latter come with a kettle and teas and coffee in the room and a few other toiletries. Rooms use the lovely FACE Stockholm products. The rooms are a nice size.
The Family Hotel Expert view –
We stayed in one of the hotels deluxe family rooms which we thought was a great space. The bunk bed was nicely placed at the end of the room and the hotel was able to bring in an additional bed for our oldest child. The bathroom was a great size with a bath and separate shower and we really loved the products. We liked the addition of gowns and a kettle that you get with this category of room.
Scandic City Rovaniemi – the location
The hotel really is based right in the heart of the city and it’s really accessible to all the shops, restaurants and bus routes around Rovaniemi. It’s an easy walk to the train and bus station.
The Family Hotel Expert view –
We loved the location right in the centre of the city which made it easy to pop out to dinner and then get back in to rest. It was great having the shopping centre opposite which was warm and full of shops and cafes to explore.
Food and drink at the Scandic Hotel Rovaniemi
There is a main restaurant for dinner at the Scandic and a second buffet restaurant for breakfast.
The Family Hotel Expert view –
🍳 – Breakfast was a really nice spread of pastries (particularly cinnamon buns and blueberry slices), juices, cereals and a hot buffet. There was plenty of gluten free and vegan choices.
We didn’t eat any other meals at the hotel.
Scandic Rovaniei Hotel – family friendly
The hotel welcomes families and the family rooms are a great choice for those travelling with kids. The play area in breakfast is very small but it’s a nice touch for younger children.
